Meta: Should you save in gold bars or jewellery? Jawharat Al-Maaden compares 10 grams of 24K bar and 21K bangle at October 2, 2026 prices, after gold rose on weak US jobs data.
Jawharat Al-Maaden presents its brief for Friday, October 2, 2026.
Today’s market: Gold rose back above $4,200 after the US reported only 29,000 new jobs in September, raising hopes that the Fed will pause rate hikes on October 28.
The question many customers ask: Bar or jewellery? Here is a simple comparison at today’s Dubai reference, metal only:
- 10g 24K bar: about $1,385 in pure gold. Low making charge, so most of your money is metal.
- 10g 21K bangle: about $1,230 in gold content (87.5% pure). Its making charge is higher, and it is usually not recovered when you sell.
What the example shows: For saving, the bar puts more of each dollar into gold. For wearing and occasions, a bangle gives you beauty and still holds metal value. Many families do both: a bar for savings, a piece for joy.
From the shows: This week’s Istanbul show covers gold, silver and refining, and Sharjah features the world’s tallest gold bar at 2.12 metres. Metals are in the spotlight.
The honest caution: Prices move daily, and gold fell about 6% last month. Keep metals as part of your savings, not all of it.
