On Monday, 26 October 2026, precious metals are steadying after a volatile week. Gold closed below $4,000 on Friday for the first time since mid-July and is now trading around that level. Silver is near $54 an ounce and platinum near $1,545.

The main driver is US interest rates. Oil near $115 has kept inflation high, and markets now see a strong chance of a US rate hike in December. The US 10-year yield is near 5%.

For Jawharat Al-Maaden customers, this week’s level is a reference point for bars and liras. Prices in dinars also depend on the market rate, which closed in Baghdad on Saturday at 168,750 dinars per $100.

Example: A standard 22K gold lira weighs 7.2 g and contains about 6.6 g of pure gold, worth about $850 today. At Baghdad’s market rate, that is about 1.43 million dinars before the shop’s premium. A 10 g 24K bar is about $1,286, or roughly 2.17 million dinars.

Our advice: Compare bars and liras by pure gold content and premium per gram. Bars usually carry lower premiums for larger sizes.

The honest caution: Metals can move several percent in a day, especially around Wednesday’s Fed decision. Silver and platinum are more volatile than gold.
